The B-Glocal project successfully raised awareness, strengthened personal responsibility for sustainability, and motivated older adults to shift their daily habits and engage more actively in local climate action.
Three organisations – Media Creativa 2020 (Spain), Drossostalida (Greece), and the Business Foundation for Education (Bulgaria) – joined forces to involve people aged 55+ in climate-related topics at the community level. According to a Eurobarometer survey, this age group – comprising one-fifth of Europe’s population – is the least informed and active when it comes to climate responsibility.
Over just 16 months, B-Glocal developed a comprehensive educational programme for older adults, especially those from vulnerable backgrounds. The project delivered:
- A multilingual digital platform featuring 9 micro lessons on key topics such as food, water, waste, transport, and climate policy;
- 40-day challenge activities and interactive digital games designed to inspire small habit changes;
- A Trainer’s Handbook offering practical tips, methods, and tools for facilitating engaging climate-related events and learning sessions in the community.
All resources were validated by adult education and environmental experts in each partner country. Local pilot workshops with seniors confirmed their value and relevance. The project’s final results were shared in an international webinar, attended by more than 20 adult educators and consultants from 7 countries.
All outcomes are freely available on the project website: https://www.b-glocal.eu.
Project B-Glocal, No. 2023-2-ES01-KA210-ADU-000179142 was implemented with the support of the Erasmus+ programme.
