The Green STEAM project has officially launched its 6-month Hackathon series, inviting students and graduates from STEAM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) to join an exciting journey into the world of sustainability and entrepreneurship.
If you’re ready to be part of a greener, more innovative future — and to work on real-world challenges — this is your chance!
What’s GREEN STEAM?
The GREEN STEAM project is a European initiative that equips academic students with the skills needed to face future challenges and lead the green transition. It especially welcomes female learners and those without prior entrepreneurship experience.
The project follows the “flipped classroom” approach, where participants start by exploring the theoretical concepts independently and then apply the obtained knowledge to practical tasks.
The first step in the hackathon is a gamified online course (MOOC), available in six languages — English, Bulgarian, Greek, Portuguese, Polish, and Italian.
It equips students with cutting-edge knowledge across five key topics:
- 🌿 Entrepreneurship in STEAM
- 🌱 Green skills and sustainability
- 🧠 Innovation and design thinking
- 💻 Digital skills in entrepreneurship
- 📋 Project management and social skills

Learn by Doing: Gamified Learning + Flipped Labs
Through self-directed online learning and interactive exercises, students will explore green entrepreneurship concepts at their own pace. But learning doesn’t stop there! Participants will also participate in flipped labs — dynamic team sessions facilitated by expert trainers equipped with mentorship resources, teaching guides, and challenges.
Real Problems, Real Impact
Throughout the program, 250 students from Bulgaria, Poland, Portugal, Italy, and Cyprus will collaborate in teams to develop sustainable solutions to real-world environmental issues, such as:
- Reducing plastic pollution
- Designing circular business models
- Promoting ethical production
- Increasing energy efficiency
Their ideas will be pitched at Demonstration Events, where the most impactful and innovative solutions will be awarded.
Why Join?
- 100% Free and Online
- Learn at your own pace
- Gamified, fun, and engaging
